1971, New York City: guitarist and electrical engineer, Larry DiMarzio, discovered a way to recreate the standard-issue sound of stock pickups. He achieved this by replacing the existing pickup with a revolutionary, direct-replacement of his own design. One year later, DiMarzio Musical Instrument Pickups, Inc.
